Former New Orleans Saints player Steve Gleason came back to the Superdome during Week 4 of the 2026 NFL season, marking 20 years since his famous punt block. Gleason, who has been living with ALS for 15 years, reunited with former teammate Michael Koenen at the Rebirth statue as part of Domecoming celebrations.
The moment carried real weight for fans and players alike, given how strongly linked Gleason's story is to the city of New Orleans and the Saints organization. The Rebirth statue, erected in his honor, served as the meeting spot for the reunion.
Gleason also took part in leading a second line during the festivities. The second line is a deep-rooted local tradition that has become part of his story with the city over the years. His involvement in the celebration drew strong responses from fans in attendance.
